Rahman set to be out for eight weeks maximum

Injured Black Stars left back Baba Rahman, may be out of action for maximum of eight weeks, after he was stretched off, in the Stars lone goal win over Uganda, in the ongoing African cup of Nations (AFCON) in Gabon.

The former Kumasi Asante Kotoko defender, fell awkwardly and twisted his ankle when the stars took on the cranes of Uganda in the Group D opener of this year’s edition of the Total AFCON tournament.

Rahman, is set to be flown to Germany to his parent club Schalke 04 to ascertain the severity of his injury.

Dr. Adam Baba Team Doctor of the Black Stars told the press in Port-Gentil, Gabon that, “he will be out for two weeks minimum and a maximum of eight weeks.

“But this will largely depend on further examinations in Germany.

“The injury was caused by the nature of the pitch. It is too hard for the game. That is what caused his knee to be twisted, after falling.

According to scan results and test the German based player suffered a crucial ligament which will keep him out on the sidelines till late February 2017.

Ghana takes on Mali on Saturday 21st January in their second match in Group D.
