The restoration of teachers and nurses trainee allowances is expected to cost some GH¢252.2 million.

The reinstitution of the allowances is expected to start in September 2017.

According to the Minister of Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, the allowances will cover 49, 032 teacher trainees across 43 public colleges of education as well as 69,707 trainee nurses.

He made this known when he presented the maiden budget statement under the President Akufo-Addo’s administration to Parliament on Thursday.
