Esin: I Pick Ghana Over Cameroon For AFCON Final

Esin predicts Ghana win over Cameroon

Former Nigeria international Etim Esin wants Ghana to defeat Cameroon in their 2017 AFCON semi-final match on Thursday for the final slot.

The last time both teams met in the semi-finals of the AFCON was in Ghana AFCON 2008 which Cameroon won 1-0.

While previewing the Thursday’s clash, Esin who was in the Eagles team that was stopped by Cameroon from qualifying for the 1990 World Cup in Italy, states that he is impressed with the performance of the Ayew brothers (Jordan and Andre), hence is choice of Ghana over Cameroon.

“It is a very difficult to pick between Ghana and Cameroon because they are two great African football nations,” Esin tells Completesportsnigeria.com.

“But I’m very happy with what Abedi Pele’s sons (Andre and Jordan) are doing. Abedi captained Ghana, his son (Andre)  is now the captain, which is great.

“So, if I am forced to make a pick, I think I will go for Ghana because they are really doing well,” Esin says.

And for the first semi-final between Egypt and Burkina Faso on Wednesday, Esin said:

“Burkina Faso has tried. They played against Nigeria in 2013, and for me, they are the big surprise of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and they might surprise Egypt.

“Egypt have the experience and history when it comes to the AFCON which might give them the edge over Burkina Faso.”
