Orlando Pirates defender Edwin Gyimah has reportedly began training with his Ghana teammates ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals.

The 25-year-old was involved a serious car accident on Monday when his vehicle collided with a taxi in his hometown of Obuasi, Ghana.

According to Ghana’s leading football website, GHANAsoccernet.com, Gyimah has joined his Black Stars teammates at their training base, St Thomas Aquinas Park.

“There were reports he suffered cuts but he looked unscathed when he joined his international teammates in training at the St Thomas Aquinas Park for two days,” another statement read.

The site went on to state that the former SuperSport United midfielder is likely to make Ghana coach Avram Grant’s final squad for the 2017 Afcon finals in Gabon.

“Gyimah looks fit and could make Ghana’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon,” the report concluded.

The Black Stars are in Group D along with Mali, Egypt as well as Uganda. Ghana’s first group match is against Uganda’s Cranes on January 17.

The final will take place at the Stade de I’Amitie in Gabon’s capital city, Libreville on February 5.
