FRANK ACHEAMPONG could be on his way to Liverpool. The Ghana winger has shone for his club Anderlecht this season.

And Kop boss Jurgen Klopp has had him watched several times.

Acheampong, 23, can also operate at left-back. Rated at £6million, he is due to play at the Africa Cup of Nations next month.

Both Sunderland and Newcastle have shown interest in the speedy left winger in the past year.

Jurgen Klopp is believed to be keen to improve the defence at Liverpool, and recent results have shown he is right to

He is under contract until 2019.

Anderlecht paid Thai club Buriram United £700,000 for Acheampong in 2013.
He has won league titles and cups in both Belgium and Thailand and could be ready for the Prem.

Along with any arrival of Acheampong, the return of promising youngster Joe Gomez could prove key to getting Liverpool’s season back on track.

A spectacular collapse at Bournemouth saw them lose 5-4, and they followed that up with more defensive blunders in a 2-2 draw against West Ham.

Gomez has travelled to the Riverside with the Reds squad for the Premier League clash against Middlesbrough tonight (Wednesday).

The England Under-21s international has been building up his match fitness since returning to action last month following a year on the sidelines with anterior cruciate ligament and Achilles injuries.

Gomez has played four games for Liverpool’s U23s but only figured for the first half of their match against Arsenal on Monday in case he was required for the Boro clash
